Project example: Country Estate Gyllingnæs, Denmark
“This is what I have dreamed of my entire life”, said Troels Holch Povlsen, “to live and work together with my wife on an estate”. A country estate with a functioning agricultural and forest company. “And what kind of country estate”, I replied, while we walked through the park overlooking the sea.
Gyllingnaes is an old country estate situated on the headland of the fjord of Horssens in Denmark. Its location on the coast makes the view fabulous so that the park in the first place serves as an extention to frame the view on the sea.
The light in the park changes every moment of the day, so it is never boring.
Beside the afternoon view we have created new views on daybreak and the sunset. Old trees frame these views. After all over here dawn and dusk are spectacular. HaHa (a wall to prevent animals) of cobblestones keep the animals out of the garden without the view of fences. The layout of park is in such a way that it invites you immediately to exploring. And just by walking on the paths we find with regard to shape, flowering and fragrance details in the planting that surprises us by every stroll through that park.
